the someday list

Everybody has a someday list, don’t they? Someday… one day… they blur into the same thing for me. The idea of the someday list has become quite whimsical, romantic, dreamy. ‘Someday, I’ll meet you there.’ Or, ‘I’ve always wanted to do that. Someday I will.’

I’ve got a someday list. And one thing I’ve noticed is that, a lot of things on the someday list haven’t happened yet. Strange, isn’t it? It’s almost like that saying, ‘Tomorrow never comes’. Someday doesn’t seem to come very regularly either.

I’ll share a secret with you. The someday list is really starting to get me down. The older I get, the more the someday list seems to be a joke. A joke that I’m playing on myself… Why would I do that?!

So, I’ve decided to do something. I’m changing my someday list, into a right now list. I’ve always wanted to start my own business. I love writing music, writing stories, being creative. In the past I’ve been concerned that by dabbling in everything, I will achieve nothing. In fact, I’ve been warned away from that path, by close friends. As a result, I’ve been hesitating ever so slightly. Everything has taken that little bit longer because I haven’t been fully committed to any path, for fear I will choose the wrong thing, and never succeed.

Well, I’m over that. I’m full steam ahead with music, stories and I’m going to add another feather to my bow, by finally setting up the business I have always dreamed of having at some point, someday, in the future. I’m going to tackle it slowly, one step at a time, but I’m going to begin the journey now.

Please stay tuned! Don’t let me forget what I’ve set out to do. And if you have something you’ve been putting off, why don’t you join me in getting the ball rolling. Get angry with your someday list! Look your hopes, ambitions and goals in the eye, and tell them who’s boss.

  1. That sounds exciting! If there’s any girl who can transform a someday list into a right now list – it’s you. I’m watching this space…! 🙂

  2. Hey Erin! Great that you’ve made the steps of recognising and committing to your unique journey of an authentic, multi-layered creativity. Structure and deadlines can seem so intimidating, and unsympathetic to creativity, but they don’t have to be! They can be great friends. My “some day” aspirations are not even listed – they’re floating somewhere in the ether, so you’re a few steps ahead of me I think! All the best with your first project, whatever that will be. xx

    • Thanks Tess! I find that to keep going in my creative journey I need helpful lures along the way, mostly I have to plant them myself. I feel like I do this all the time, but then when I assess where I’m up to I feel so cross that I’m not further down the road! Silly, I know. But motivating! Thanks so much for taking the time to read. xxx
